This is important because the solenoid needs 24v to hold in properly and not arc.

It ran the system as a normal 12v unless you keyed the starter at that point it rolled the switch from the 2 12v batteries running parallel to running series and activated the starter at the same time. Run cable from the solenoid directly to the starter and make a jumper from the cable to the small starter connection on the solenoid.
